The SHM Wisconsin Chapter is hosting a virtual meeting on Friday, January 16th at 4:00 p.m. CT. Please join for an educational presentation titled "Hospital at Home," provided by Drs. Joshua Shapiro and Jennifer Woodard.
Learning Objectives:
Dr. Shapiro is an associate professor and practicing hospitalist at the University of Wisconsin. He is the Medical Director for the UW Home-Based Hospital Care program and has served in this leadership role since the program’s inception. He also serves as a utilization management physician advisor for UW Health, is core faculty of the University of Wisconsin Internal Medicine Residency, and is the physician lead for faculty recruitment and onboarding within the UW Division of Hospital Medicine.
Dr. Woodard is a clinical assistant professor in the divisions of hospital medicine and geriatric medicine at the University of Wisconsin. She has worked with the Home Based Hospital program at University of Wisconsin since joining UW in 2024 and splits her clinical time between hospital medicine and the inpatient geriatrics consultative service. She is also the associate program director of the Geriatrics fellowship and a current Digital Media Fellow for the Journal of Hospital Medicine.

- Describe the benefits of hospital at home care models as they pertain to patients, caregivers, and healthcare systems
- Describe ongoing growth and future directions of hospital at home as a care model in the US and in WI
