The SHM Central Ohio Chapter will be hosting an in person event on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:00 p.m. ET at The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek in Gahanna, OH. Please join the chapter to meet and network with other clinicians in your community and for an educational presentation titled "Opiate Use Disorder: What is it? How to manage it in your institution, some interventions we have tried," provided by Joseph Asteriou MD, Drew Logan DO, and Taryn Keller, NP .

Dr. Asteriou is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and certified in OUD and is a key leader in our Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) program along with Peggy Williams MD. Under his leadership, he and his team have successfully implemented a multidisciplinary approach to care for patients actively seeking pain management and support in their recovery from opioid use disorder (OUD). This comprehensive care model ensures patients receive the necessary support, both during treatment and upon discharge, promoting their long-term health and recovery.
Dr. Logan is a Clinical Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University and a dedicated physician actively working toward certification in Opiate Use Disorder treatment. He serves as an attending physician in the Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) program at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, where he brings his expertise in prescribing medications that support patients in overcoming addiction and achieving better health outcomes. Dr. Logan’s active involvement in the program underscores his commitment to advancing patient care in the field of addiction medicine.
Taryn Keller, NP plays a pivotal role and provides bedside consultations and care of patients with opioid use disorder (OUD), also ensuring they receive the necessary prescriptions and treatments. Her contributions are essential to the success of the program. In collaboration with Crystal, she coordinates follow-up visits for patients after their medication is prescribed. Taryn is also integral in communicating care plans with primary care physicians, ensuring compliance and patient safety while managing Suboxone and other medications.
