The SHM Central Ohio Chapter is hosting an in-person event on Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00 p.m. ET at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in Columbus, OH. Please join the chapter to meet and network with other clinicians in your community and for an educational presentation titled "Updates in Consult Medicine," provided by Drs. Vijay Duggirala and Matthew McCutcheon. Whether you're a seasoned hospitalist, medical student, NP or PA, or just stepping into the role of any of the above, this event is designed to sharpen your skills, spark new ideas, and keep you ahead of the curve in consult medicine. Hear directly from leaders in the field on best practices, and the latest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Vijay Duggirala, MD, is a seasoned clinician and healthcare leader specializing in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) and hospital process optimization. He currently serves as the Hospital Medicine Director for Quality and Patient Safety and as the Physician Advisor of CDI across The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, where he has driven measurable improvements in performance metrics and national rankings.Previously, he held leadership roles including Vice Chair of Quality for Internal Medicine, overseeing care delivery for more than 700 clinicians, and Director of Consultative Medicine, where his leadership contributed to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center achieving a Gold Star rating for Geriatric Trauma and significant growth in consultative services.Dr. Duggirala’s expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies has led to notable achievements in noise reduction, virtual monitoring implementation, and enhanced patient mobility. Passionate about patient-centered care, he continues to inspire excellence and innovation among healthcare professionals.

Dr. Matthew McCutcheon is a well-established Hospitalist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and serves as the Service Line Director for Consultative Services within the Division of Hospital Medicine. In this role, he oversees the care of patients admitted to non-medical services throughout the medical center, with special emphasis on Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, Harding Hospital, and The James Cancer Hospital. Additionally, Dr. McCutcheon is a seasoned and passionate educator who has successfully expanded the educational reach of Hospital Medicine through his work on Consultative Services and continues to lecture within the health system, focusing primarily on perioperative medicine and preoperative evaluations. Dr. McCutcheon currently serves as the Hospital Medicine liaison for the OSU Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Burn, and is active within the OSU College of Medicine through his work as the Vice Chair on the Academic and Behavioral Review Committee as well as serving as a long-standing Longitudinal Group Facilitator. Advancing medical education and improving patient care for hospitalized patients continues to inspire Dr. McCutcheon’s work within OSUWMC and the OSU COM.
