The SHM Hampton Roads Chapter will be hosting a virtual meeting on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Please join the chapter for an educational presentation titled "Obesity Medicine: Navigating Chronic Disease Management in a Post-GLP1 World," provided by Dr. Stacy Hom, a double board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine, with over a decade of experience caring for diverse populations.

Dr. Hom brings a practical, evidence-based lens to the complex challenge of obesity management in inpatient and transitional care settings. In this high-yield session, Dr. Hom will explore how hospitalists can effectively address obesity as a chronic disease in their role - and help reduce complications from related conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. We will address the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists and other anti-obesity medications, and review side effects and complications to watch for. You will come out of this session with action items to apply in your everyday practice and a knowledge base to increase your comfort with managing patients on anti-obesity medications.
