Title:
Initiating Medications for Opioid Use Disorder
Hospitalists regularly care for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD), as this is a vulnerable patient population that is overrepresented in the healthcare system. Hospitalizations are a reachable moment to offer treatment for OUD with mortality-reducing medication that has been associated with decreased readmissions. All hospitalists need to be able to diagnose and treat OUD. This four-hour training will be led by two experts in addiction medicine and hospital medicine and will equip you with the necessary skills to initiate medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) on your patients.
Anna-Maria South, MD
Dr. Anna-Maria South graduated medical school from Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2016 and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky in 2019.
