The SHM Kentucky Chapter will be hosting their 2025 Infective Endocarditis Summit virtually on Thursday, February 13th at 5:00 p.m. ET. Infective endocarditis is a life-threatening infection of the cardiac valves associated with significant in-hospital morbidity and mortality. As a result of the effects of the opioid epidemic, a significant proportion of patients with endocarditis admitted to the University of Kentucky have concomitant substance use disorder. To better coordinate between the multiple medical specialties involved in caring for this population and to improve patient outcomes, the University of Kentucky has a multidisciplinary endocarditis team. In order to provide additional information to other hospital throughout the state of Kentucky this conference will share the combined expertise of the team with interactive talks from specialists in the fields of infectious diseases, addiction medicine, cardiac surgery, cardiology and neurology.
