The SHM Minnesota Chapter is pleased to collaborate with the SHM IHT and QI SIGS for an educational presentation titled "AI and Technology as Tools to Augment Hospital Capacity Management and Patient Transfers," provided by Drs. Tabatha Matthias and Rami Hazzi.
Dr. Matthias is a board-certified internal medicine physician, associate professor, and academic hospitalist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. As a hospitalist, she has enjoyed teaching residents and medical students by creating and directing educational programs in acute illness simulation and point of care ultrasound (POCUS). She received the William Osler Teaching Award in 2016 for this educational work. She is now leading the clinical operations of the UNMC hospital medicine service, an ever-changing and growing 24/7 inpatient service, where she serves as the Associate Division Chief of Clinical Operations, and Medical Director, Capacity Optimization hub.
Dr. Rami Hazzi is an ABIM board-certified clinician, currently working as a hospitalist at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Hazzi serves as the Medical Director for the Cleveland Clinic Admission-Transfer Center/Bed Management, overseeing capacity management and patient transfers in Northeast Ohio. He also serves as the Director of Clinical Operations for Hospital Medicine in the Ohio market.
