The SHM NYC/Westchester Chapter will be hosting an in person event on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:00 p.m. ET at Dock's Oyster Bar in NY, NY. Please join the chapter to network with other hospitalists in your community and for an educational presentation titled "Epigenetics and the Perpetuation of Healthcare Disparities," provided by Dr. Ravi Kesari.
The objectives of this presentation are to review disparate health outcomes based on race and to discuss how (broadly defined) stress induced epigenetic modifications can predispose individuals or populations to the development of metabolic syndrome and its associated comorbid conditions.
Dr. Ravi Kesari is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his internal medicine residency at Northwestern University, and he is currently a hospitalist and Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU. He also currently serves as the Clinical Co-Chair of the LGBTQ+ Advisory council. Dr. Kesari has an interest in education, specifically in the realm of health equity, and is currently developing curriculum related to this as a Merrin Master Clinician Fellow at NYU.
