Please join the North Jersey Chapter for a virtual meeting on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. ET. Dr. Rikki Racela will be providing an educational presentation titled, "Financial Basics for Attendings".
Rikki Racela, MD, is a neurologist in Englewood, NJ. Dr. Racela (or Dr. "Rikki" as patients call him) was born and raised in central NJ and graduated from Princeton University in 2003, majoring in Molecular Biology with a Neuroscience minor. He stayed in central NJ to complete medical school at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School 2007. He trained in Neurology at NYU. He returned to NJ, still financially illiterate, to practice at Englewood Hospital. After becoming a financial victim of Northwestern Mutual financial “advising” through a high school friend (don’t worry, they are still friends), he and his anesthesiologist wife were in $31,000 in credit card debt for seven years.
He has bounced back financially by following The White Coat Investor’s principles. He now has a written financial plan that includes appropriate term life and disability insurance, retirement savings, and student loan debt repayment. Dr. Racela hopes to prevent fellow docs and healthcare professionals from suffering his experiences and attain and maintain wealth by teaching and writing about physician personal finance through the lens of neural/behavioral finance. He is currently a columnist at the White Coat Investor.
Saving the best for last, he is husband to a beautiful anesthesiologist, father to one rambunctious son, and endearing daughter.
